High school boys basketball: 1A team-by-team region capsules

The 2012-2013 high school basketball season gets underway this Tuesday with 25 games around the state. To prepare fans what should be another exciting season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 1A.

Every coach was invited to participate and submit information. The region rankings are based on coaches' preseason projections.

Region 17 Capsules

1. Layton Christian Academy

Coach: Bobby Porter (11th year)

2011-2012 Record: 14-9 (1st in Region 17 with 8-0)

2012 Postseason: Beat Bryce Valley in 1A championship game, 64-58

We have added Tanaka Beard to our coaching staff replacing Ed Thompson, who was my top assistant coach for 10 years. I look forward to a fun season.”

2. St. Joseph High School

3. Tabiona High School
