CLEARFIELD — The newly remodeled State Archives Records Center will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house next week.
The event at the Freeport Center in Clearfield is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m. Public tours of the facility will follow the ceremony.
For nearly 40 years, the Utah State Archives had leased warehouse space in West Valley City. Having reached its storage capacity, the State Records Center had outgrown the facility.
When the U.S. government transferred ownership of three federal buildings at the Freeport Center to the state of Utah in 2010, office space became available for state agencies. Officials determined that relocating the State Records Center to the Clearfield facility would result in a significant cost savings for the state.
The center is located at Fifth Street and C Street, Building C-6, in Clearfield. To RSVP, contact Lorianne Ouderkirk at email@example.com or call 801-531-3860.
