UVU golf: Yeates signs NLI to play golf for Wolverines

OREM, Utah — Timpanogos High School senior Monica Yeates signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Utah Valley University, UVU women's golf coach Sue Nyhus announced Monday.

"We are excited to have Monica join our team," Nyhus said. "Monica not only excels on the course, but also in the classroom."

Yeates was the Class 4A State High School Individual champion as a sophomore after shooting a 72 at Eaglewood Golf Course in North Salt Lake. As a freshman, she finished second. As a junior, she placed fourth.

In her career, she has competed in the 2012 Callaway Junior World Golf Tour, 2012 Junior America's Cup and finished in the Top 3 in the Belle Fellows Tour.

Yeates will join the Wolverines for the 2013-14 season.
