High school boys basketball: 4A team-by-team region capsules

The 2012-2013 high school basketball season gets underway this Tuesday with 25 games around the state. To prepare fans what should be another exciting season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 4A.

Every coach was invited to participate and submit information. The region rankings are based on coaches' preseason projections.

Region 5 Capsules

1. Mountain Crest High School

Head Coach: Graydon Buchmiller (3rd year)

2011-2012 Record: 14-8 (Tied for 1st in Region 5 with 7-3 record)

2012 Postseason: Lost to Provo in the 4A quarterfinals, 59-53

3. Logan High School

1. Bountiful High School

With me being the new head coach it will take us a little while to get used to each other and the new philosophies I’m bringing to Woods Cross. Our goal is to try to get a little better every day in practice and to be playing our best basketball by February. The pieces are there for us to be a pretty good team, so it’s just going to come down to execution on offense and commitment on the defensive side of the ball.”

3. Highland High School

Really like my team this year and I am very excited to see how they come together this season. Very difficult preseason with eight of 11 games on the road and against many top 5A and 4A teams."

3. Murray High School
