HIGHLAND — A Lone Peak police officer who has worked his way up through the ranks will become the new chief of the department.
Brian J. Gwilliam was selected to become the new chief of Lone Peak Public Safety District, which serves Highland and Alpine, filling the vacancy left when Kip Botkin retired after 16 years of service.
Gwilliam has been with the district for 17 years, working in the patrol division, the investigative bureau, and for the past four years as the patrol commander.
"I am excited to introduce new and innovative ideas into the police department," he said in a prepared statement.
Gwilliam lives in Pleasant Grove with his wife and four children.
