SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Great Falls (Mont.) on Friday night in the Behnken Field House.
Westminster drops to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the Frontier Conference with the 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 21-25 loss. The win improves Great Falls to 11-7 and 2-2.
The Griffins seemed to be the aggressors for much of the night and finished the match with a 53-40 edge in kills. However, they couldn't overcome 40 hitting errors and a .081 hitting efficiency to earn the win. The Griffins had a 64-58 edge in digs while UGF finished with 15 blocks to only eight by Westminster.
Ashley Marchant led the Westminster attack with 16 kills. The senior outside hitter added 11 digs and three service aces with a .200 hitting efficiency. The Griffin middles combined for 20 kills with Katie Vance recording 11 and Stephanie Jones Morin posting nine. Emily Atkinson had 44 assists, and Kyndall Kordakis popped up 15 digs.
Kelsey Van Uden led the Argonauts with 17 kills and hit .220 in the match. Alyssa McEwan added eight kills with four Argos recording double-digit digs.
Westminster has a quick turnaround as it welcomes Montana State-Northern to town on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.
