LAYTON — A broken gas line forced the evacuations of several homes and businesses on Tuesday.
Just after 8:30 a.m., a 4-inch gas line was hit by construction crews digging at 2195 N. University Park Blvd. (1200 West) in Layton. Six businesses and two duplexes east of the leak were evacuated, according to Layton police.
The gas line was shut off and clamped about two hours later.
Employees at Davis Hospital reported being able to smell the natural gas. However, the hospital was cleared by officials of any danger and was not forced to evacuate.
