SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah will celebrate its football Homecoming next week, which culminates in the last rivalry game with BYU until 2016.
The week begins with the Legacy of Lowell Community Service Day on Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon. More details are available at bennioncenter.org/legacyoflowell.htm.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, students will participate in house decorating on Greek Row and other campus locations. Also on that day, U. graduates from 40 or more years ago will hold their Emeritus Reunion at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Register online at www.alumni.utah.edu/homecoming/.
Thursday, Sept. 13, will feature the Songfest and Crimson Pep Rally at 6 p.m. The events are free and open to the public and will be held respectively at the Union ballroom and Union plaza.
On Friday, Sept. 14, at 8 a.m. is the Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament; register online at www.alumni.utah.edu/golf/. UNight will be from 6-7 p.m. at The Gateway, featuring a parade.
Friday night ends with Homecoming Student Dance at The Depot. Tickets may be purchased at the Associated Students of the University of Utah office, Room 234 of the Student Union or online: www.asuu.utah.edu/.
Saturday, Sept. 15, is Homecoming Day and kicks off with a 5K Run/Walk/Stroll at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is available through Sept. 12 at: www.alumni.utah.edu/5krace/. Also, there is a Kids 1K Fun Run at 9:15 a.m.
Utah vs. BYU pregame tailgate is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 500 South and Guardsman Way. Register online at www.alumni.utah.edu/homecoming/. And when the players arrive, join the fun Ute Walk procession north down Guardsman Way to Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utah vs. BYU Homecoming football game will then begin at 8 p.m.
