OREM, Utah - The 2012 Utah Valley University volleyball team held its annual Green & White intrasquad scrimmage on Tuesday night in anticipation of the season opener on Friday.
The white team was led by 21 kills and 12 digs from McKenna Tait. Erin Jolley hit .433 while adding 18 kills, and Brookelyn Hall handed out 53 assists for the white squad, which won all four sets between the teams (26-24, 25-17, 25-23, 15-13).
"We're anxious to get things going and tonight was nice to be able to get out and play in front of our family and friends," Wolverine head volleyball coach Sam Atoa said. "Everybody was very competitive and this was a fun scrimmage."
The Wolverines will officially begin their 2012 season this weekend when they take on Cal State Northridge and Evansville on Friday and Arizona on Saturday at the Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
Utah Valley, the defending Great West Conference champion, returns 10 letterwinners and has one senior, Erica Nish, on the 2012 squad.
"We are a young team and tonight was a great opportunity for us to see what we're capable of so we can improve from there," Atoa added. "Hopefully it will help us get geared up and ready to go for this weekend."
UVU will play its first four matches away from Orem before the home opener on Sept. 4 against Weber State.
