DELTA — Thousands of pure white snow and Ross’ geese will take to the skies during the annual Utah Snow Goose Festival held Feb. 24-26.
Except for the black tips on their wings, snow geese are pure white. The festival will be held at and near Gunnison Bend Reservoir, just west of Delta. Admission is free.
The geese feed in the fields that surround the reservoir in the early morning and then fly back to the reservoir around 10:30 a.m. After a few hours on the reservoir, they take off again and fly back to the fields.
“It’s thrilling to be there when the geese take off,” said Bob Walters, Watchable Wildlife coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources, in a prepared statement.
