Weber State's Deon'tae Florence, SUU's James Cowser on Big Sky preseason team

PARK CITY — Weber State senior cornerback Deon#8217;tae Florence and Southern Utah junior defensive end James Cowser have been named to the 2014 Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team, which was released Monday at the Big Sky Football Kickoff Meetings. Florence earned All-Conference honorable mention honors last season for the Wildcats. He transferred to WSU from Boise State. In the 10 games he played, Florence finished second in the Big Sky in interceptions and second in passes defended. He recorded four interceptions on the season and had eight pass breakups. He also had 30 tackles on the year. Cowser is also in the running for the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the top defensive player in FCS. He has tallied 18 sacks in the past two seasons. Eastern Washington junior quarterback Vernon Adams was named the conference preseason Offensive MVP and Montana senior defensive end Zack Wagenmann was named preseason Defensive MVP.
