MAGNA — A playground aide was reported to be in good condition Tuesday after possibly being struck, or nearly struck, by lightning. About 12:15 p.m., a storm was moving through the Magna area, including Copper Hills Elementary School, 7635 W. 3715 South. Teachers and playground aides were corralling students to return from the playground back inside the school, when a loud clap of thunder hit nearby.
The playground aide reported feeling a tingling in her legs. Emergency crews could not find any evidence of burn marks and do not believe she was directly struck by lightning, according to Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Mecham.
