Members of the Harp irish Dance Company, top, dance in the St. Patrick's Day parade at The Gateway in Salt Lake City on Saturday. The parade — organized by the Hibernian Society of Utah is the state's second-largest annual downtown parade — followed a nearly mile-long route through the center of the shopping center. At right, a pooch with Utah Friends of Basset Hounds marches in the event, which became an annual tradition in Salt Lake City in the late 1970s. It is held in honor of Irish emigrants who fled their homeland due to famine and rampant poverty.
