Utah storm pelts N. Utah, causes delays at Salt Lake International Airport

SALT LAKE CITY — According to the National Weather Service, northern Utah is expected to get up to eight inches of snow throughout Sunday night as a winter storm barrels across the region.

The weather service is forecasting a foot of snow for the Wasatch mountains.

The storm was developing into a blizzard Sunday afternoon from Salt Lake City 50 miles north to Brigham City.

The runways at the Salt Lake International Airport will be closed intermittently throughout the night for snow removal and de-icing.

The Utah Department of Transportation is warning of statewide road snow Sunday morning through Monday evening, with periods of road slush and/or snow impacting Cache Valley through 11 p.m. Sunday, Ogden between 1 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday, the Salt Lake Valley between 2 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday, and Utah Valley between 5 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
