Our take: In preparation for the opening of "The Book of Mormon" musical in Seattle today, The Seattle Times created an overview of the percentage of Latter-day Saints in each of Washington's counties. The musical will be performed in King County, where 2.95 percent of the population is Mormon.

The Broadway musical “Book of Mormon” is opening in Seattle on Tuesday, and, as Misha Berson reports in The Seattle Times, despite the play’s bawdy satire of their religion, local Mormons seem to be taking it in stride.

Local Mormons? Here in mostly secular King county, you might be wondering, how many Mormons could there even be?

It might surprise you to learn that King County’s Mormon population is one of the largest of any U.S. county.
