Letters: Find root of bullying

Published: Saturday, Jan. 5 2013 12:00 a.m. MST

Fourteen-year-old David Phan is dead because of bullying ("Suicide symposium looks at adolescent needs, preventative programs," Dec. 6). I read in the article that "bullies would walk home with him while taunting and throwing things at him."

The bullies wouldn't leave Phan alone. He fought back and got into trouble for it.

So I ask: Phan is dead, and the bullies just got away with it? Why do we not call them out? Is this to protect the bullies?

Adults must start truly dealing with the issue by addressing the root of the problem, or we will just keep seeing more tragedies.
