Here's a recap of the first boys and girls basketball games of 2013 played on Wednesday night.
STANSBURY 67, TOOELE 55: Ryan Robbins scored 18 points while fellow Stallion Stone Tia added 17 points to earn the region win over Tooele.
MORGAN 70, BEN LOMOND 58: Jake Miles led Morgan to victory with 19 points while Cameron Skinner added 16 points. Morgan made 11 more free throws than Ben Lomond which was led by Sterling Brandley who scored 22 points.
BEAR RIVER 65, OGDEN 55: Wade Miller tallied 23 points, nine of which came from distance, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists to lead the Bears to the win.
PANGUITCH 77, ESCALANTE 46: Panguitch coasted to a victory led by Tyce Barney who scored 29 points and made two 3-pointers. Dalan Bennett aided the Bobcats offensively by adding 19 points.
DIAMOND RANCH 56, MILFORD 49: Diamond Ranch outscored Milford 18-12 to pull away for its first region win of the year. Sam Brown led the way for the D-Backs with 19 points.
BRYCE VALLEY 80, VALLEY 37: The Mustangs gave up just 11 points between the second and third quarters as Hunter Mecham led five Bryce Valley scorers in double figures with 15 points.
LOGAN 72, PARK CITY 61: Tyler Brimhall posted 31 points as the Grizzlies closed the first half on a 20-9 run on its way to a solid preseason victory over Park City.
HIGHLAND 63, JUAN DIEGO 44: Riley Tucker led the Rams to the easy victory scoring 15 points, while Henry Morris and Todd Connolly each added 13 points each.
JUDGE MEMORIAL 61, MURRAY 51: Judge Memorial used a balanced scoring attack with four players scoring in double figures to get the big win at home. Patrick Neville led the Bulldogs with 16 points, while Murray's Justin Adams led all scorers with 17 points.
SOUTH SEVIER 68, CARBON 64: Race Parsons knocked down eight 3-pointers and finished with 35 points while Austin Clark and Alani Pututau teamed up for 26 to lead South Sevier. Derek Young had 26 points in the loss.
KEARNS 62, LEHI 56: Kearns had four players eclipse double digit scoring figures and collectively hit six treys from beyond the arc for the win. Dayan Goodman led Kearns with 18 points, with Bushman Ebet, Darion Brown and Henry Rodriguez combining for 41 more points.
ROY 63, TAYLORSVILLE 46: Brekkott Chapman went off for 25 points and Roy collectively hit seven 3-pointers to handle Taylorsville fairly easy on the road after holding the Warriors to three total points in the second quarter.
SKY VIEW 51, HIGHLAND, IDAHO 40: Jalen Moore and Ty Nielsen combined for 30 points and despite a five-point second quarter performance, Sky View knocked off Highland, Idaho.
PINNACLE 96, WENDOVER 66: Pinnacle was unconscious offensively, scoring an average of three points per minute to run away from Wendover. Taje Richardson, Javanni Alyzayyat, Jake Hardy and Dalton Rudman combined for 85 points.
WASATCH 45, PAYSON 33: Wasatch had eight different players find the score sheet and defensively held Payson under double digits in all four quarters for the win.
BOUNTIFUL 62, OLYMPUS 56: In a battle of ranked 4A teams, Bountiful led start to finish in its victory over Olympus despite committing 24 turnovers. The Braves were led by Zach Seljaas who scored 18 points and drained two 3-pointers.
BRIGHTON 69, BINGHAM 50: Brighton exploded for 29 points in the opening quarter and coasted from that point forward. Brandon Miller dropped 29 points with five 3-pointers and Bryce Callahan added 12 points.
KANAB 68, FREDONIA, ARIZ. 44: Kanab had a strong first half and cruised through the second half to defeat Fredonia, Ariz. Brandon Jenson led the Cowboys with 15 points including two 3-pointers while Mark Bates added 14 points.
EMERY 80, DUGWAY 36: Emery easily defeated Dugway thanks to a very spread-out scoring attack led by Bailey Faimalo who scored 18 points while Dillon Wilstead added 16 points.
JUAB 56, HURRICANE 54: Curtis Orme hit two free throws with five seconds left to give Juab the win at home. Kaden Kelson led the Wasps with 15 points while Orme scored 11.
SYRACUSE 59, VIEWMONT 57: Diante Mitchell came off a screen with 2.9 seconds left to hit the game-winner as the Titans were perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe.
SOUTH SUMMIT 65, MANTI 50: Led by Brad Richins, who scored 24 points including three treys, South Summit earned the home victory. Manti's Jamen Miller scored 20 points in the loss.
BEAVER 40, MAESER PREP 36: Beaver remained undefeated, but not without a fight. Braxton Williams led all scores with 17 points for the Beavers as they eked out a victory over Maeser Prep.
TIMPVIEW 47, PROVO 39: Lauryn Dela Cruz led the T-Birds with 16 points as Timpview closed the first half on a 15-6 run to open region play with the win.
SALEM HILLS 62, MAPLE MOUNTAIN 49: Missy Belliston and Erica Egbert had 16 points apiece as the SkyHawks pulled away in the second half.
OREM 44, TIMPANOGOS 39: Orem eked out the victory on the road thanks to solid play from Selesitila Tenney and Tatiana Monsen who scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.
SPRINGVILLE 68, MOUNTAIN VIEW 45: Savannah Park scored 24 points and Malia Nawahine contributed 16 as Springville remained unscathed on the season in an easy region win over the Bruins.
SKY VIEW 83, WEBER 64: Lindsey Jensen was nearly unstoppable from beyond the arc as she drained seven 3-pointers en route to a game-high 29 points. Tara Goldman added 21 points to the Bobcats' cause while Weber's Erin Reichle scored 26 points in the loss.
HILLCREST 48, JORDAN 35: Three players scored in double-digits for Hillcrest, led by Whitney Nemelka who scored 17 points, as it earned the road victory.
GRANGER 61, EAST 32: Lile Havili tallied 20 points and Jessica Matheson added 14 points with four 3-pointers as Granger rolled to victory.
WASATCH 65, SPANISH FORK 55: Wasatch picked up the road victory led by Rebecca MaWhinney who scored 17 points and added eight rebounds. Spanish Fork's Alyssa Brown scored a game-high 21 points in the loss.
UINTAH 53, CARBON 44: Uintah jumped out to an early lead and then, as Carbon started to make a surge, held onto the win with superb defense in the final quarter. Erin Elder and Hailey Bunderson combined for 27 points in the win.
VIEWMONT 51, NORTHRIDGE 36: In what was a close game until the final minutes, Viewmont pulled away from the free throw line for the nonregion victory as Caitlyn Larsen led the way with 20 points.
