Our nation could not be more unified in the resolution that we never again want to see school children, movie-goers, shoppers, or worshippers shot and killed. Yet our nation could not be more divided on the remedy.

Surely there is a basketful of ways to temporarily disable, dissuade and disarm would-be assassins while minimizing potential harm to the innocent. The remedy needs to be available immediately to those being threatened. And, it must be assertive.

We've seen how poorly the passive remedy works for teachers directing our school children to huddle in a corner. Our local, state and federal officials must don their thinking caps and discard their political correctness.
