Our take: A New York psychologist recommends that communities need to be involved in helping children cope with traumatic events. Maggie Fox forom NBC News reports how parents and communities can help:
"The shootings at an elementary school in Connecticut are a parent's worst nightmare and there will be very little comfort for the parents of the 20 children killed in the attacks, said Dr. Gail Saltz, a New York psychiatrist and TODAY show contributor.
But for the children who survived, providing comfort and a feeling of safety will be key in helping them recover –– and most, if not all, of them likely will, she said."
