If itís publicity BYU wants, independence is a nice way to go in football. The Cougarsí deal with ESPN has garnered plenty of that. If itís money, that has worked out nicely, too, compared to being in the Mountain West.
But the big money will still go to the big conferences.
CBSsports.com is reporting that BYU and Army would receive the lowest payout in the BCS playoff plan, only $200,000 per year. By comparison, Utah and other Pac-12 teams would receive $3.3 million apiece.
BYU athletics director Tom Holmoe tells writer Dennis Dodd he will oppose the revenue sharing plan as it currently stands.
