HURRICANE — Brian Scott, the 2011 Deseret News 3A MVP running back for the Hurricane Tigers, was diagnosed with an unreleased form of leukemia.

According to a report from The Spectrum, Scott's form of leukemia is curable and the Southern Utah signee will receive treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

In 2011, Scott totaled 1,638 yards and 31 touchdowns on 210 rushing attempts. He proved his durability in Hurricane's 38-35 semifinal win against Spanish Fork; carrying 36 times for 220 yards and three scores with a shin injury. Scott was also a three-time champion wrestler in the 220-pound division.

He was scheduled to leave shortly for an LDS church mission but will remain in Salt Lake City for treatment.

The Tigers had a bye this week. Their next game is at home at Desert Hills on Oct. 11. The team is riding a 20-game winning streak.
