CEDAR CITY — Southern Utah University junior cornerback Tyree Mills has received an indefinite suspension from the Thunderbird football team, SUU coach Ed Lamb announced Monday.
Mills was arrested over the weekend for unpaid fines connected to a pair of past incidents, an assault charge and a charge of theft.
The assault charge was brought against Mills in October of 2010 for shooting an air-soft pellet gun at an SUU student. Mills pled guilty to the assault charge in March of 2011. The theft charge came about after Mills removed a parking boot, which had been placed on his vehicle by SUU campus security because of unpaid parking tickets, in April of 2011 and he pled guilty to that charge in June of 2011.
Mills had not paid the fines related to the incidents, which resulted in the issuance of a warrant in April of 2012 and subsequently in his arrest.
