Was: 1. Last week: Beat Fremont, 43-0. Outlook: Coming off shutout win against Fremont, the Leopards' standout defense faces a huge test against streaking Woods Cross this week. Next up: at Woods Cross, Friday.

2. Alta (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: Beat Riverton, 19-7. Outlook: Only rushed for 33 yards in surprisingly difficult win over Riverton last week, production that probably won't be good enough in showdown with Jordan. Next up: at Jordan, Friday.

3. Jordan (3-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: Beat Kearns, 61-29. Outlook: Let out some frustration from the East fiasco with a dominant victory over Kearns. Next up: vs. Alta, Friday.

4. Syracuse (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 4. Last week: Beat Box Elder, 31-14. Outlook: The Titans have only given up four touchdowns all year, and two of those were late with the outcome well in hand. Next up: at Davis, Friday.

5. Bingham (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 5. Last week: Beat Layton, 44-14. Outlook: Faces a beleaguered Cottonwood squad this week in final preseason test before diving into Region 4 slate. Next up: at Cottonwood, Friday.

6. Northridge (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 6. Last week: Beat Westlake, 42-7. Outlook: The defense continues to dominate this year, an improved aspect for the Knights that has them thinking region title for the first time since 2003. Next up: vs. Fremont, Friday.

7. Brighton (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 7. Last week: Beat American Fork, 27-7. Outlook: Showed a bit more versatility offensively last week as freshman Drew Jensen threw three touchdown passes. Next up: vs. Pleasant Grove, Friday.

8. Hurricane (4-0)

Class: 3A

Was: 8. Last week: Beat Cedar, 31-13. Outlook: Adam Thompson showed off his big play ability last week, and the Tigers need him to come up huge in Week 5 showdown with Dixie. Next up: vs. Dixie, Friday.

9. Timpview (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 9. Last week: Beat Mountain View, 48-7. Outlook: Open region play with a bang last week, but Maple Mountain should put up a much bigger fight this week. Next up: vs. Maple Mountain, Friday.

10. Woods Cross (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 10. Last week: Beat Sky View, 41-14. Outlook: The big-play Wildcats have the weapons necessary to compete with No. 1 East, and perhaps pull off the upset. Next up: vs. East, Friday.

11. Logan (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 11. Last week: Beat Spanish Fork, 38-13. Outlook: Despite mounting injuries, the Grizzlies continue to impress both offensively and defensively. Next up: at Bonneville, Friday.

12. Bountiful (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 12. Last week: Beat Viewmont, 41-7. Outlook: The Braves cut down on the turnovers that plagued them in Logan loss in rout of rival Viewmont last week. Next up: vs. Cyprus, Friday.

13. Lone Peak (2-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 13. Last week: Beat Highland, 35-11. Outlook: Enjoyed its best defensive effort of the season last week, an encouraging sign with region play just around the corner for the defending Region 4 champions. Next up: vs. West, Friday.

14. Mountain Crest (2-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 14. Last week: Beat Weber, 34-3. Outlook: The Mustangs kick off region play against rival Sky View this week coming off a preseason in which five points is all that separates them from a 2-2 record and a 4-0 record. Next up: vs. Sky View, Friday.

15. Davis (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 18. Last week: Beat Hunter, 23-0. Outlook: Coming off shutout of Hunter, the Darts open league play against Region 1 favorite Syracuse this week. Next up: vs. Syracuse, Friday.

16. Herriman (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 16. Last week: Beat Copper Hills, 53-20. Outlook: The Mustangs are the overwhelming Region 7 favorites heading into the start of league play this week. Next up: vs. Hillcrest, Friday.

17. Juan Diego (4-0)

Class: 3A

Was: 19. Last week: Beat Skyline, 27-19. Outlook: Will have its hands full this week trying to slow down Granger back Tani Lehauli, the state's leading rusher. Next up: at Granger, Friday.

18. Granger (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 22. Last week: Beat Judge Memorial, 35-7. Outlook: Coming off shaky defensive effort in Week 3 against Cyprus, the Lancers were much better against Judge last week. Next up: vs. Juan Diego, Friday.

19. Riverton (2-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 15. Last week: Lost to Alta, 19-7. Outlook: The defense did well against elite 5A teams the past two weeks, but the offense couldn't get anything going. Next up: vs. Kearns, Thursday.

20. Timpanogos (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 23. Last week: Beat Salem Hills, 22-6. Outlook: After starting last season 0-4, the T-Wolves are savoring every bit of their undefeated start to this year. Next up: vs. Springville, Friday.

21. Highland (2-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 17. Last week: Lost to Lone Peak, 35-11. Outlook: Following 2-0 start, the offense has struggled the past two weeks against Herriman and Lone Peak. Next up: at Clearfield, Friday.

22. Box Elder (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 21. Last week: Lost to Syracuse, 31-14. Outlook: Despite loss to Syracuse, the preseason was tremendously successful for the Bees, who are ready to make some noise in Region 5. Next up: vs. Roy, Friday.

23. Pleasant Grove (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 25. Last week: Beat West Jordan, 26-6. Outlook: Faces its toughest test of the season against a resurgent Brighton Bengals squad. Next up: at Brighton, Friday.

24. Stansbury (4-0)

Class: 3A

Was: --. Last week: Beat Bear River, 37-18. Outlook: Continues to roll along, but back-to-back games against Morgan and Desert Hills loom ahead in Week 6 and 7. Next up: vs. Tooele, Friday.

25. Roy (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: --. Last week: Beat Murray, 9-3. Outlook: Gutted out an ugly win over Murray, but the offense needs to be much better in region opener against Box Elder. Next up: at Box Elder, Friday.

Dropped out: No. 20 Spanish Fork, No. 24 Sky View.
