SALT LAKE CITY — Sophomore tight end Jake Murphy had a career night in Utah's 41-0 victory over Northern Colorado. Murphy led the Utes in receiving with six catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns — all career highs.
"Jake Murphy has unbelievable ball skills for a tight end," said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. "He'll be a factor for us all season."
Murphy acknowledged it was awesome to get the opportunities he did in the season opener.
"(Brian Johnson) calls the plays and was pretty confident in me coming into the game," Murphy said. "I was just happy he called them. We just executed well and I'm happy with it."
