Our take: Marissa Mayer, new CEO of Yahoo!, announced that she is pregnant just as she is taking the helm at Yahoo! That's caused some ripples in the corporate world, where pregnant women bosses are a rarity. This piece in The Atlantic harks back 20 years to a question posed by Ceridian Corporation CEO Lawrence Perlman and quoted in the Christian Science Monitor. His topic was "A Pregnant CEO: In Whose Lifetime?" He made it clear that "leadership parity," as the author of the piece, Megan Garber, puts it, is about not just fairness but keeping a business competitive:

"This issue is not just a feminist issue, a liberal issue, a fairness issue. Ultimately, it is a question of American business competitiveness. To the extent that we in the United States deny women the opportunity to develop in business to their full potential, we are ruling out contributions from some of the most capable people in the workforce," Garber writes.
