The big day has been nine months in the making, but on June 1, Jimmer Fredette and his fiancée Whitney Wonnacott will forget about basketball and focus on something more important — their wedding day.
"It's crazy, but it's a lot of fun," Wonnacott told KSL. "I mean, it is stressful at times. There's a lot to think about, a lot going on. My mom and dad and I — like every day, we make lists of things we have to do."
Fredette and Wonnacott crossed paths when Wonnacott was a freshman, and he first started talking to her during the NCAA tournament three years ago.
After some trickery that involved a fake trip to a golf tournament, a pair of shoes and some sneaking around, Fredette asked Wonnacott to marry him in August 2011 and she said yes.
Although Fredette's future may be somewhat uncertain after the next NBA season, for now, the two are just happy to have found a best friend.
