New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin had lunch Tuesday with the former ESPN headline writer who was fired in February for writing a racially insensitive headline.
Anthony Federico, a 28-year-old Connecticut man, used an idiom in a headline that could also be used as a slur against Chinese, and was subsequently fired.
Federico apologized and called the headline an "honest mistake," and Lin accepted the apology. During their lunch, Federico said they discussed their shared Christian faith and Lin's knee injury.
The fact that he took the time to meet with me in his insanely busy schedule… he's just a wonderful, humble person," Federico said. "He didn't have to do that, especially after everything had kind of died down for the most part."
