C. Reed Sanders1924 ~ 2012Reed Sanders, 87, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in Murray, Utah. He was born March 11, 1924 in Murray, Utah the son of Clement James Sanders and Georgia Woodward Sanders. He was a graduate of Granite High School. During World War II he served in the US Navy. He married Ila Jean Ferrin on June 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron until his retirement. He and his wife Ila loved to get together once a month with Ila's school friends for their Dinner Club. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and had served in many callings including at the Salt Lake LDS Temple and at Welfare Square as Stake Canning Chairman.His favorite camping spot was in Yellowstone Park where he would fish all day. He enjoyed taking his boat out to fish or to pull anyone he could around water skiing. He enjoyed the Ferrin Family Reunions in Ogden Valley every Memorial Day.He is survived by his sons, Lynn (Elka) Sanders and Gary (Sandra) Sanders. Eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. His two sisters: Virginia S. Pendleton and Gene S. Call and son-in-law, Lynn Brighton. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ila Sanders, his daughter, Elayne Brighton, his parents and a brother, Lee Sanders.A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Larkin Mortuary (260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City). The family will meet with friends on Sunday, February 12th from 6 to 8:00 PM and on Monday, February 13th from 10:00 to 10:45 AM both at Larkin Mortuary. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery following services.We share our appreciation to the Garden Terrace and to Lyle and Kristeen Phelps for their loving care of Reed.
