OGDEN — A crowd gathered at an Ogden playground Thursday afternoon to mourn the deaths of Charlie and Braden Powell with pinwheels.
Prevent Child Abuse Utah, the group that organized the vigil, passed out some 400 blue and silver pinwheels to remember the boys and to serve as a reminder of the bright future all children deserve to have.
The attendees, many of them affected by the tragedy, wrote in a memory book to give their condolences to the Cox and Powell family. The book will be brought to Charlie and Braden's funeral Saturday.
The two brothers were killed on Sunday in a house fire intentionally set by their father, Josh Powell, who also died in the blaze. Their mother, Susan Cox Powell, had been missing since December 2009 and Josh Powell had been a person of interest in the case.
