NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Utah Valley’s Geddes Robinson has been named Great West Conference Player of the Week after posting two double-doubles last week. The award was announced Monday by the league office.
It’s the third time this season that Robinson has received the award and the fifth time for a Wolverine player. He received the first award of the season on Nov. 17 and also shared it two weeks later on Nov. 28.
“It’s satisfying to see all the hard work from the summer paying dividends for him,” Utah Valley coach Dick Hunsaker said.
Robinson averaged 17.0 rebounds and 11.0 points in two conference victories last week for the UVU. In a 65-56 win over Chicago State, he scored 10 points — on 5-of-7 shooting — and pulled down 16 rebounds.
Two days later, in an 81-58 win over NJIT, the forward grabbed a school record-tying 18 rebounds to go along with his 12 points. The double-double, his 10th of the year, surpassed his previous school record of nine set last season.
Robinson became Utah Valley’s all-time leading rebounder earlier this season and is currently ranked eighth nationally with 10.9 boards per game.
