Former Utahn Chris Maathuis, who is now the sports director of the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, says goodbye to Utah and good riddance to BYU as both schools officially leave the Mountain West Conference at midnight.

— ESPNLosAngeles.com is reporting that the Lakers could announce the hiring of former Utah coach Jim Boylen as an assistant as early as Friday.
