LEHI — This week marks one year since construction crews began work on the I-15 CORE project in Utah County.
The 24-mile interstate reconstruction project is more than one-third complete and is on schedule to be finished by its December 2012 deadline. That means the project will have taken 30 months.
Several important milestones occurred during the first year of construction, including the following:
Completed the longest two-span bridge move in the Western Hemisphere at Sam White Lane in American Fork.
Opened first two of 63 total bridges on the project at Proctor Lane and 2700 North in Spanish Fork.
Moved all six of the bridges that were constructed and moved using accelerated bridge technology. UDOT has moved 25 bridges statewide — nearly double the number of bridges moved by all other states combined.
