SALT LAKE CITY — One of the most outspoken opponents of the controversial HB477 will speak Thursday about Utah's open-records laws.

Joel Campbell, a journalism professor at BYU and past chairman of the Society of Professional Journalists, will speak on "Sunshine Laws in Utah Government" at 12 p.m. at the Utah State Archives, 346 S. Rio Grande St. (455 West).

He helped organize opposition to the unpopular bill, which would have rolled back access to many government records and which has now been repealed.
