SALT LAKE CITY — Utah football picked up a pair of high school recruiting commitments in Texas on Monday.
Brian Allen, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver from La Marque High School, and Greg Allen, a 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back from Alief Taylor High School, have accepted scholarship offers from the Utes. They plan to sign letters of intent on Feb. 1 and enroll at the U., in June.
Although they share the same last name, the players from the Greater Houston area are not related. Both made official visits to Utah last weekend and informed head coach Kyle Whittingham and recruiting coordinator Morgan Scalley of their decisions during home visits in Texas on Monday.
Brian Allen noted that the coaches jumped straight up from their seats when the offer was accepted.
Greg Allen, an accomplished track star who has 4.3 speed in the 40, cancelled a planned trip to Kansas after committing to Utah.
