Jane Berneice Pulver Hammond 1935 ~ 2011Our beloved sister, mother and grandmother died on December 2, 2011, at her home in Sandy, Utah, after a 5-year battle with breast cancer. She lived in Sandy for 35 years. She was born on March 15, 1935, to Willis H. Pulver and O. Berneice Davis in Payson, Utah. She graduated from Payson High School and received a small scholarship to Brigham Young University. She later worked in the IBM Department at Beneficial Life Insurance Company for six years. She married L. Neil Hammond on November 2, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Neil, and a brother, Willis. She is survived by 2 brothers: Eugene and Vern; 2 sisters: Lawanna and Deon; 4 children: Gary (Carolyn), Becky (Matt), Danny (Silvina) and Dale (Stacia); and 10 grandchildren.Mom was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, most recently as a Family History Consultant. With her husband, Neil, she served a mission for a year at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in the German records department. She was a perennial gardener and shared her plants with anyone who wanted a start. She was a community education art teacher at Mt. Jordan Middle School for 10 years. She was an avid genealogist and wrote many histories. Mom liked to keep her hands and mind busy, and her family will benefit from her colored pencil portraitures and heirloom handi-work.Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 East 10600 South for a viewing on Tuesday, Dec. 6th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wed. Dec. 7th at the Sandy Crescent Stake Center, 10945 South 1700 East at 12 Noon with a viewing from 10:30-11:45 a.m. The family thanks Janine and Peggy of Alpine Hospice for their loving care the last few months.
