Glen W. SwalbergSept. 4, 1927 ~ Nov. 27, 2011Glen Wilford Swalberg, 84, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 in Delta. Born Sept. 4, 1927 in Salt Lake City to John Wilford and Luella Maxine Johnston Swalberg. They moved to Delta when Glen was eight. Glen's dad started Delta Auto & Appliance and Glen grew up working there. Married Helen Ruth Pratt on August 29, 1947; later solemnized in Manti Temple. Parents of Paul Wilford, Dean Jonathan and Todd G. Swalberg.Glen served his country in the Merchant Marines. Later served as President of Utah Chapter of Jaycees. Active member of LDS Church and served in many positions. Served as Stake President of Delta West Stake, President of Utah National Parks Council, and on Delta City Council for 10 years. Glen loved his Church, Family, Community and Scouting. Devoted his life to service. Was on many boards and committees in the community. Worked at Delta Auto right up to the time of his death. Active in scouting program his entire life. Awarded Silver Beaver for his scouting service.Preceded in death by brother: Wayne Sorensen; son: Paul; son: Todd; granddaughter: Cathy Jo. Survived by wife: Helen of Delta; daughter-in-law: Jeri Swalberg of Pleasant Grove; son: Dean (Jetta) of Delta; daughter-in-law: Barbara Thorne of Provo; sister-in-law: Beryl Sorensen of St. George; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.Services: Friday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m. at Delta 1st Ward Chapel, 222 W 200 N. Viewing: Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S Center St, and Friday at church, 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial Delta Cemetery.
