Joyce WileyApril 28, 1926 ~ Nov. 21, 2011MORAGA, CALIFORNIAJoyce passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gordon Roberts Woolley and Lydia Hazel Lee Woolley; graduated from West High School; earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Utah; and later obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Denver. She married the late F. Hugh Wiley on August 25, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah.Joyce was an extraordinary Second Grade teacher at Rheem Elementary School, in Moraga, for 26 years. After retirement, she happily continued to tutor students until her early eighties. She approached teaching with great enthusiasm, loving each of her students, and always went the extra mile in helping them achieve their potential.Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She delighted in gathering her family together for birthdays and special occasions. She was a positive, energetic, and sharing person, who could see the good in everyone. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, walking, and frequenting garage sales. She was an active member of the LDS Church.She is survived by her children: Ann Brock (James) of Fairfield, Darrell Wiley (Debbie) of Alamo, Susan Mackay of Elk Grove, and Craig Wiley of Concord; her twin sister Julia Smith of Bountiful, Utah, and her brother Gordon R. Woolley, Jr. of Gilbert, Arizona; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the Moraga LDS Chapel, 3776 Via Granada, Moraga. Graveside Services and burial will be held on Friday, December 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah.In lieu of flowers, donations to Latter-day Saint Charities-Perpetual Education Fund would be welcomed.
