Leland Joy RoperMar. 2, 1923 ~ Nov. 22, 2011Leland J. Roper was born to Leland and Eva Roper on March 2, 1923. Married Norda Afton Anderson on February 21, 1944 on leave from World War II. Charter member of Delta City Volunteer Fire Department. Also, served as EMT and Delta City Mayor. Served in US Army in World War II in Europe. Member of LDS Church, served in various callings including Bishopric and Temple Ordinance Worker in the Manti Temple. Touched the lives of many through church and employments. First Ford Tractor dealer in Delta where he found his love of working on tractors. Farmers far and wide brought him tractors to fix and he found a way to fix all of them. He loved deer hunting, farming, riding his 4-wheeler in the mountains and dutch oven cookouts.Survived by wife of 67 years: Norda A Roper; sons: R. Dale (Karen), Forrest (Sharon) and Alan (Mira) and daughter-in-law: Kathy (Gino) Difabio. Preceded in death by parents, son: Brian and grandson: Gerald Scott Roper. Loved by 14 grandkids and 22 great-grandkids.Services: Saturday, Nov. 26, 11 a.m. at Delta 4th Ward Chapel, 197 S 300 W, Delta. Viewings: Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, Delta, and Saturday morning at church, 9:30-10:40 am prior to services. Burial Delta Cemetery.
