Calvin Jay DutsonMay 11, 1928 ~ Nov. 16, 2011Calvin Jay Dutson, 83, passed away at home in Oak City, Nov. 16, 2011. Born in Oak City, UT, to Emery and Lemira Roper Dutson. Graduated Delta High School. Served a 2 1/2 year Spanish speaking mission in Texas. He was an active member of the LDS church. Served in the Korean War in the Army. Married Vernell Stewart Dutson in the Manti Temple on January 7, 1954. They made their home in Oak City. Together they raised 8 children.Dad spent his life working at Dutson Supply with his brothers. When not at Dutson's you would find him on his farm in Oak City, farming with his children and grandchildren. Dad's idea of a vacation was going to the farm or riding horses. Dad always had a treat on him, chocolate was his favorite. One of his past times was collecting, it didn't matter what - scrap metal, old cars anything out of metal. Dad loved hunting and horseback riding. There was never enough time. Hopefully everyday is filled with horses, big bucks, trucks, and John Deere Tractors.Preceded in death by son: Jay Emery Dutson; brother: Roland Dutson. He left behind a loving wife: Vernell Stewart Dutson; sons: Stewart (Hollie) Dutson of Delta; Larry Dutson of Delta; Rawlin (Julie) Dutson of Oak City; daughters: Jeanene (Ed) Owens of Sutherland; Janice (Ron) Daniels of Spokane, WA; Mira (Alan) Roper of Delta; Peggy (Jasin) Kooyman of Oak City; 25 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids.Services: Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 am at the Oak City LDS Church. Viewings: Friday evening, 6-8 pm, at Nickle Mortuary, and Saturday morning at church, 9:30-10:40 am, prior to services. Burial Oak City Cemetery.
