Alvin Raymond Johansen 1923 ~ 2011"A life well lived leaving a legacy of love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren"Surrounded by his family who adore him, Al passed peacefully away October 5, 2011 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on February 13, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alfred Johansen and Jensigne Hansen Johansen. Al grew up in Salt Lake. During World War II he served his country, honorably, from 1942 to 1945 in the Marine Corps located in Guam. In 1949 he met and married Dotty Jo (Dorothy Bernice) Tellefsen who quickly became the love of his life. Their marriage was solemnized on May 29, 1973 in the Ogden L.D.S Temple. Al and Dotty Jo moved to Woods Cross, Utah in 1953 where they lived all their adult life and raised their two daughters, Julie and Jill. Dotty Jo passed away in 2002 and Al missed her deeply for the remainder of his life.Al and Dotty Jo's great love and support for their daughters continues to radiate in their posterity to this day. He worked for the R.T. French Co. for twenty-two years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quietly went about doing good. He was an active member of the L.D.S. church where he was known as an "awesome home teacher". Al was a wonderful example of love and devotion to family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and grandson. He is survived by his daughters Julie Webb Townsend (Randy) and Jill Bishop (Brent), fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five (and counting) great grandchildren. Our family gives special thanks and appreciation to the Bountiful Welcome Home Assisted Living staff and residents for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 am at the L.D.S. Church, 1335 W. 1500 South, Woods Cross, Utah where viewings will also be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to funeral services.
