Nyda Riding Hertig1919 ~ 2011Our sweet mother, grandmother, and friend slipped quietly away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the age of 91. Nyda was born November 10, 1919 in Provo, Utah to Martha Mariah Hancock Riding and Alma Riding. Nyda graduated from West High School in 1937. She served in the L.D.S. Northern California Mission from 1941-1943. After her mission, she worked for the church Genealogical Society in the indexing department. On December 21, 1945 she married Louis R. Hertig in the Salt Lake Temple, becoming a wife to Louis and mother to his three wonderful boys in one day. She would later have seven children, making her the mother of ten. Active in the L.D.S. church, Nyda served in many callings, her favorite being the scouting program. Nyda was also very proud of her pioneer heritage and was a lifelong member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers sharing with others her love of the past. Her greatest joy in life; however, was her family. Nyda will always be remembered for her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and her ability to love people unconditionally.
