SALT LAKE CITY — Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott was on hand for Utah's first home game in the expanded conference.
"I'm excited to be here. Been looking forward to this day for quite sometime," Scott said before the Utes faced Washington at Rice-Eccles Stadium. "... I remember being here in June of last year talking about this day coming, so we're excited that it's here."
Scott received a commemorative football from Utah athletics director Chris Hill and interim University of Utah president Dr. Lorris Betz on the field midway through the first quarter. Scott arrived in Salt Lake City Friday, accepting an offer from Betz to meet with his cabinet and the university's academic leadership. He also received a tour of the campus during his most extensive stay in Utah. One of the stops, the school's television production facilities, drew praise from the commissioner. Scott called it "tremendous" and added it would be a big contributor to the Pac-12 Networks, which are slated to begin operation next August.
