Ethel Watts Kupfer 1937 ~ 2009 Ethel Watts Kupfer of Murray, UT, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Sept. 23, 2009 after losing a valiant fight with breast cancer. She is survived by her ex-husband, Douglas Kupfer, her children Kelly, Dan, Clint and Rhonda Kupfer; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ethel was born on Jan. 21, 1937 to Von and Laura Cox Watts in Cedar City, UT. She grew up mostly in Provo, UT., where she graduated from Provo High School in 1955. On a trip to Salt Lake City in 1955, she met Douglas Kupfer and after a short courtship they were married in 1956, in Salt Lake. Ethel enjoyed crafting, sewing, needlepoint and painting. Her needlework and paintings will be cherished by her surviving family for years to come. She was an excellent seamstress and met many people in her business of alterations in Murray. She sewed day and night to support her two missionary sons while they were out on their missions. Ethel was a convert to the LDS Church and served many positions in her church, including the position of Homemaking Leader in her ward, Ethel was a great listener and as a result helped many people in her neighborhood as well as many other people with whom she came into contact with. Ethel will be sorely missed by her family and many other friends both in Murray and in St. George, UT. There was a private memorial held by her family shortly after her death and her ashes, according to her wishes, will be scattered from Mt. Timpanogos in Utah County at a later date.
