Gene Deem 1929 ~ 2011 Gene F. Deem Died in his sleep May 27, 2011, in Logan, UT.He was born March 3. 1929 in Ogden, UT. to George and Flossie Bingham Deem. Married Marilyn Young on Feb. 17, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was active in the LDS Church and served a mission to New England and a CES mission with his wife. He served in the Stake Presidency and five Bishoprics, and in various stake and ward callings. He dedicated 20 years to the scouting program and served 18 years in the Jordan River and Draper Temples. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from USU. He taught five years at Jordan High School, and worked 32 years for State Farm Ins. He is survived by his wife, 10 children: Greig (Suzanne), Richard (KarLenna), Douglas (Marla), Janet (Matthew Ekenstam), Shauna Overson, David (Cheryl), Kurt (Tara), LeAnn (James Ellis), Kristy (Charley Sparks), Karen (Jared Sullivan), 45 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Vaughn (Danna) and a sister Lynette (Darrel Wayment). Services: Sat. June 4 at 11 a.m. with a viewing one hour before at the Sandy, Utah Central Stake Center, 1050 E. Galena Dr. (9800 S.) Viewing: Fri. from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
