Marvin Bryan Garrett 1919 ~ 2011 Marvin Bryan Garrett passed away on his birthday May 1, 2011 at age 92 in Midvale, Utah. He was born May 1, 1919 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Marvin Bryan Garrett Sr. and Anna Loucks McKittrick. He spent his early childhood in Louisiana and Texas before moving to San Francisco, CA. at age 11. He served in the U.S Navy during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He married Olka Elison October 22, 1949 and was later Solemized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Marvin spent his entire career in the steamship business in San Francisco and at the Port Of Oakland before retirement in Salt Lake City in 1986. He joined the LDS Church in 1954 and served in many callings including counselor in the bishopric. He is survived by his son Gary. Although Marvin was an only child he had many relatives from his wife's side of the family that he was close to. They wish to express their thanks to Canyon Creek Senior Living and to Hospice for Utah for the care he received in the last few years of his life. There will be a viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah) May 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services to follow at 6:30 p.m.
