VICTORIA, British Columbia — The Utah Grizzlies head north to Canada needing to win at least two of the next three games to bring their ECHL Western Conference semifinal series back to Utah.
After dropping a pair of 4-2 decisions on their home ice last weekend, the Grizzlies find themselves down 0-2 in the best-of-seven series, with Game 3 tonight and Game 4 on Friday night. Game 5, if necessary, would be played on Saturday at Victoria. If the Grizzlies can win at least two of those three games in Canada, Games 6 and 7, if necessary, would be played back at the Maverik Center in West Valley City.
Both Utah and Victoria continue to be undefeated on the road in the playoffs. Utah is 2-0 and the Salmon Kings are 4-0 outside of Canada.
The Utah power-play, which was a 6-for-17 in the opening round against Stockton, has stepped things up again in the second round. The Grizzlies are 3-for-5 for a 60-percent conversion rate against Victoria on the power play.
Utah rookie Matt Reber has now scored in all seven games that he has played with Utah, including all six playoff contests. He ranks second in the ECHL in playoff scoring with three goals and seven assists, behind captain Simon Ferguson, who has four goals and seven assists to lead the league.
Victoria leads series, 2-0
