June Davies Sutton 1922 ~ 2011 June Davies Sutton, beloved Matriarch and Elect lady passed away March 23, 2011, at age 88, surrounded by her loved ones. She carried the title of cherished Mother, Nana, Aunt, Sister and Friend. Her unconditional love and genuine concern endeared her to many. She was born to Joseph Thomas Davies and Lora Christina Anderson on June 13, 1922 in Rexburg, Idaho. At age one, her family moved to Los Angeles where she began a life long love with the sun and sand of the Southern California beaches. California also availed her the opportunities of performing, at a young age, both on stage and on radio. She loved music and was known for her Angelic voice. At age 19, she accepted a call to serve in the North Central States LDS Mission. On her mission, a photographer sat her on the first row, next to a fellow Californian. After their respective missions, William Eldon Sutton sought out the girl from the photo. They were married January 14, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Soon after her marriage, she turned down a movie career in the Golden days of Hollywood for the promise of Home and Family. The years that followed were filled with the arrival of children and then grandchildren. True to her sunny Californian upbringing, she was a source of warmth and energy. She also used that energy to fuel her insatiable love of learning and music. She traversed the world continually through biographies, histories and volumes of encyclopedias. These were laid open to all her children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren alike. She made composers and cultures from far off lands a part of daily life and instilled in us that same appreciation. In 1979, June and her Bill were called to the Virginia, Roanoke Mission. On their return, they were greeted with their completed home, lovingly built by family, in Orem Utah. She always considered her second mission to be a highlight, even as she continued to serve faithfully in various other callings in the LDS Church for the remainder of her life. She is survived by daughter Diana Sutton, daughter Susan and son-in law Dennis Borg, son William T. Sutton and daughter in-law Julie, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Tick Tock. She is preceded in death by her husband William E. Sutton and grandson Ryan William Borg. Heartfelt love and appreciation go to Alpine Home Health and Hospice, especially Monica, Donna, and Marilyn for their service and kindness to June and her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 12 p.m. in the Park 4th Ward Chapel, 50 S. 750 West, Orem, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 p.m, at Sunberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem, UT and Saturday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the chapel.
