Russell Stewart Schow 1919 ~ 2011 Russell Stewart Schow, 91, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his home. Russell was born March 17, 1919 in Logan, Utah to Archie Randall and Vera Victoria Stewart Schow. He married Doris Greenwell on March 14, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Doris passed away in 1997. Russell grew up in Lehi and graduated from Lehi High School. He served in the Eastern Canadian Mission for the LDS Church. After returning from his mission, Russell served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the India/ Burma/China Theater. After his military service, Russell graduated from Brigham Young University. Shortly thereafter, he began a career with Mountain Fuel Supply Co., retiring after 33 years of service. Russell was best known for his Arabian horses and being a charter member of the Utah Arabian Horse Club. He enjoyed serving 40 years as Uncle Sam in the Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days Parade. Russell served his community and his church in a variety of capacities. He is survived by his four children: Stewart (Pat) Schow, Highland; Craig (Susan) Schow; Robert (Judy) Schow; Patricia (Jon) Andrus all of Pleasant Grove; 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Morris (LaRae) Schow and Alvin (Elaine) Schow. Russell was preceded in death by his wife Doris and two grandsons: Daniel Elton Schow and Andrew John Schow. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northfield Third Ward Chapel, 2155 North 100 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 72. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
