Donald James Sims "Still Fantastic" Donald James Sims, age 84, passed quietly away in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 23, 2011. He was born on April 14, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Henderson Sims and Olga Johnson Sims. He graduated from South High School in 1944. He was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army and served his military time in Germany. He married Shirley Erickson on July 18, 1947 in the Manti Temple. He learned the typewriter trade under the G.I. Bill and worked for Royal Typewriter Co. He later formed Ramey-Sims Office Machine Service with his friend and partner George Ramey. He was a member of the LDS Church, and had served in many callings including three Bishoprics, and also served as an Ordinance Worker at the Jordan River Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vivian Hale, & his daughter-in-law LeeAnn Phillips Sims. He is survived by his wife Shirley, of 63 years, sons Michael D. (Lori) Sims, Kevin L. (Lou Ann) Sims, and daughters Jennifer S. (George) Robinson, and Leslie A (Randy) Freedman, 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, & one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral services. The burial will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
