SALT LAKE CITY — Utah officials are launching a website detailing broadband service throughout the state.
Governor's Office of Economic Development executive director Spencer Eccles says in a news release the website gives a clear picture of the strength of Utah's broadband infrastructure.
The site — broadband.utah.gov — includes an interactive map showing where service is provided and a broadband speed test. It also allows people to report areas where broadband service is lacking.
The interactive map includes a list of Internet service providers in a certain area, download speeds and whether there is wireless or wire-based service.
Gov. Gary Herbert says broadband service is as important to fostering economic development as electricity was a century ago.
The website is a joint project with four state agencies.
